Migraines in children can also be triggered by these various factors such as certain foods, lack of sleep, sun exposure, screentime, hormonal changes and change in the environment.
Treatment
Headaches and migraine treatment in children is focused on alleviating pain and preventing future episodes. This can involve -
- Resting in a darkened room

- Ensuring adequate hydration
- Applying cold or hot compresses on the head
- Using over-the-counter medicines (suitable for children’s age).
For more severe headache or frequent migraine, a professional may prescribe medication and suggest preventive measures.
Medical evaluation
It is important to seek medical evaluation if a child experiences headaches or migraines on a regular basis which starts interfering with their daily activities. A healthcare professional, such as a pediatric neurologist, conducts a thorough assessment, reviews the child's medical history, performs physical examinations, and recommends appropriate diagnostic tests if necessary.
